The bat staff was added on 4 August, 2010 as part of the Elite Treasure Trails and New Rewards update. The requirements to wield it are 40 Magic, 40 Attack, 60 Prayer, and 20 Defence. All animal staves has the combat statistics of a particular mystic staff, plus a +3 bonus to prayer; the bat staff is analogous to a mystic air staff, and therefore provides unlimited air runes.

When a player has both a bat mask and a bat staff equipped, the player may operate the staff to do a special emote.
